Appraisal

How long does a VA appraisal take?

Short answer

Often 7–14 days from order to issuance of the Notice of Value, though seasonal demand and appraiser availability shift the timeline. Florida's busy purchase seasons can extend it. Tidewater or property-condition flags add days for cure and re-inspection.

Plain-English explanation

VA assigns appraisers in rotation through its portal — lenders cannot rush a specific appraiser. Once on the appraiser's calendar, scheduling, inspection, and report turn happen on a consistent rhythm. Appraisal extensions are common in peak season. MPR cures and re-inspections add time. Subject to VA guidelines.

What can change the answer?

Property condition against MPRs, repair requirements, Tidewater process, and Reconsideration of Value can change the appraised value and timeline.
